I see all sorts of answers online, but am not fully convinced. I tried finding some research on the longevity of clothes between wash and wash + dry. Considering that it dries for hours just the mechanical movement should damage the clothes I would assume?

I have a large music library that I don’t have much storage left for on my phone. There are of course other ways of solving this problem, but are there any good dedicated music players like iPods still around?

Setting aside Big Tech and surveillance capitalism for a minute — I wonder if fediverse microblogging apps like Mastodon aren’t fairly antisocial and inclined to individualism, while apps like Lemmy are more community and artefact/stuff-to-share centric.

The other day, I was on a crowded bus for an intercity commute, and was sat beside someone who was reading. So I got my book out and started reading as well. At the end of the trip I asked her what she was reading and what it was about, and added the associated series to my reading list. I also told her about my book. We parted ways and it made my day a little brighter. Does anyone have any similar stories of brief good encounters with other people?

I’m not thinking of virus or illness. Just physical injuries. Every paper cut, burn, broken bone, stubbed toe, bonked head, etc. You receive all those injuries right now, in a single moment.

I have had insomnia most of my life and found out that falling asleep listening to something as opposed to white noise really helps the anxiety I feel leading up to and falling asleep. I ended up buying a sleep mask with headphones after my wife was being woken up/kept awake by my phone on my nightstand. I have been trying to find a job for the past 2 years and I have not been able to go further than a round two interview of four. I have applied to multiple jon openings through LinkedIn, Indeed, SimplyHired, and other smaller platforms that I can’t remember because I’ve been through so many. I have tried directly contacting companies asking if they are interested in freelance work or even an opportunity to have an informative interview and nothing. I have tried temp agencies and it’s either truly crappy pay work or they are just not interested in me. I have updated my resume numerous times, I have gone to job fairs and talk with companies and nothing. I have tried to reach out to what little network that I have and they have really not been helpful. Hell, I’ve even tried applying to Walmart and I still got no response and it’s been like 2 months. I just don’t know what to do anymore. I would like to join the single-day general strike that is being called for the US this Friday, January 30th, but I’m wondering exactly how to do this. I have a couple that lives above my apartment and the guy regularly workouts in his apartment. His workouts happen 4-5 times a week sometimes twice a day. Weekdays he’ll do a workout 630am and play electronic music at the same time. Sometimes he’ll workout again 530pm.

Eager to discover new music

I have quite a few public playlists on 2 channels that I maintain. I am migrating the channels to a new instance. Unfortunately, I can’t migrate the videos themselves because of the overall size, so I will need to re-import them on the new instance without the playlists connected to them.

They have never been to school. They’ve never said anything about wanting to read. But when they have to read something, they pretend they forgot their glasses or smth like that. They’re insecure about it. I feel sad for them. That said, they’re pretty stubborn. What can I possibly do to convince them to try learning?

So I’m broke and I buy the cheapest stuff. I bought an iPod Touch 6th Gen off eBay with a cracked screen and a bad battery for about $15. However, what I didn’t know was that apparently the battery was soldered to the Logic Board, which I should’ve looked up I guess… what can I do to tinker a bit with this device, make it a fun tech project, and still make it usable? It says working condition other than the bad battery…

Hi! I’m looking for some good book recommendations! I’m looking for something like Beautiful World, Where are You by Sally Rooney. It’s about 4 friends and they all date each other at different times. However, she injects a bit of political theory in to the story, about how conservative isn’t sustainable because nothing can be conserved. It was a really good part of the book, I though. What are your experiences with it? Is it as simple as digging a cable trench, putting the cable in (maybe with some pipe to protect it) and covering it?

So this will be my first time getting drunk drunk, and my friend is a year older than me and has done it several times before.
