Explanation: In 1928, American President Herbert Hoover, a Republican, was elected with Charles Curtis as his vice-president, a Native-American man. Unfortunately, Hoover’s administration was not particularly progressive beyond that gesture.

Andrew Jackson, a previous American president, is most notable today for his brutality and violence. He was instrumental in the Trail of Tears - an ethnic cleansing campaign which removed nearly all Native American tribes from the eastern part of the USA, killing tens-of-thousands in the process. Anything except letting the dreaded Native American man keep some small sliver of the land he and his family lived on, apparently.
