Explanation: The American Civil War General US Grant (very auspicious initials for an American leader, certainly) was a pretty gentle soul at heart, noting even that as a young man that he disliked hunting for sport. Despite this, he oversaw some of the most brutal battles of the Civil War. That nature and that experience likely contributed to his noted tendency during his later years to prefer his steaks extremely well-done, with any amount of red juice from cutting into it making him sick to his stomach.
Poor fellow.
It’s the mama bear phenomenon. The gentlest people become the most brutal in the defense of the vulnerable against oppression.
Coined in honor of the researchers who documented it, William Mama and Joseph Bear.
I love this so much. It sounds like something I would write had I been smarter and faster.
Well done steaks! If I see a speck of red, it’s going back, you better cook my food!
Aw, hell naw, Karen!
